Hamilton General Resource Websites

  • A mutual aid group started in response to COVID-19 by the Disability Justice Network of Ontario, Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion, Hamilton Student's Mobilization Network, and Erich's Cupboard. 

    Care-Mongering HamOnt provides free grocery and hygiene product deliveries to anyone in Hamilton. You can request a grocery or hygiene product delivery by filling out the request form. They also have a Facebook group to "organize the local community on the grassroots level to ensure vulnerable community members have access to food, housing, healthcare, and other necessities", where you can post requests for aid or support.

  • Compass is a community health centre located in the north end of Hamilton.

    On their Positive Space page you can find an FAQ about changing your name and gender marker, videos demonstrating how to safely do HRT Injections from home, how to do at home hair cuts, and their Safer Space, Move in Place  video series about staying physically active while at home. Compass also has an LGBTQ+ advocate who runs programming for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, and who can support people in navigating services in Hamilton and at Compass.

  • The McMaster Pride Community Centre provides a contact point for McMaster students that may identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or any of the other diverse identities that make up our community. They offer educational programming and access to resources of interest, as well as peer support and a physical space for students to meet and socialize with each other.

  • The Hamilton-Wentworth chapter of pflag Canada is a community resource providing support, information and education, and community to people around issues of gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation -- their own, and those of others.

  • QUARTZ at the Art Gallery of Hamilton is a casual art-making drop-in for 2SLGTBQIA+ community members to let your creativity thrive.

    Hosted monthly from 6–8pm, no experience is required. Art supplies are provided for inspiration and use, and you are welcome to bring your own.

  • Hamilton Community Legal Clinic

    Offers legal services, education, and system navigation to the LGBTQ+ and Two Spirit community in Hamilton. This is a francophone project that has an accompanying English component.

    Services include:

    • Training for community groups, service providers, and legal workers

    • Public legal education that is culturally sensitive and delivered with accessibility in mind

    • Legal support and services for disadvantaged queer clients
