About Pride Hamilton

It all begins with an idea.

Pride Hamilton is driven by our volunteer Board of Directors and a dedicated team of volunteers, bringing our events to life.

Pride Hamilton burst onto the scene in 2019, hosting our first official Pride event at Gage Park in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. But the spirit of Pride has been alive in Hamilton since 1991, and in 2021, we marked 30 years of rainbow-filled celebrations. Despite the challenges of Covid-19, we adapted, hosting virtual Pride festivities in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, we joyously returned to in-person celebrations at the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen's. Since then, we have celebrated with the community at Pier 4 Park, and we look forward to welcoming you this year!

Mission Statement

Pride Hamilton aims to create and continually produce events that reflect the Pride the 2SLGBTQIA+ community has in itself, by strengthening the sense of solidarity & unity, as well as contributing to the vitality, and overall well-being of all people who wish to celebrate.

We aspire to grow our impact as we build trust and support from the Hamilton Community and beyond.

Pride Hamilton’s Vision

A supported, local 2SLGBTQIA+ community that is resilient, and stronger where folks do not need to travel to other communities to feel safer, respected, valued, celebrated, and included, regardless of how they identify or who they love; a better Hamilton.

Pride Hamilton’s Values

**Encourage & Promote: Authenticity
**Treat folks with: Respect
**Move with: Integrity
**Fight for: Freedom
**Believe in: Community
**Celebrate: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Contributions and sacrifices made to this movement by Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (QTBIPoC) must always be recognized in the work Pride Hamilton does.

Ongoing meaningful reconciliation means that we must continue to acknowledge the Two-Spirit/Indigenous contributions to society as a whole. This includes recognizing Nations, and making space for first occupants of these lands that we occupy and treat both these Peoples and the lands with respect.

Pride Hamilton continues to transition our operations and events to be accessible for all bodies, mindsets and abilities, and will continue to evolve our offerings and accommodations to reflect the needs and visions of our communities. Equity starts with representation and opportunity, which we commit to reflect in our operations and programming. We acknowledge that our accountability, learning and unlearning are never-ending.

The safety and well-being of our stakeholders and community members are of the utmost importance. We commit to co-creating safer spaces by appropriately planning and providing sufficient resources. We acknowledge and ask that the broader community also acknowledge that there is strength in our collective and individual experiences and that lived experiences are intersectional.

We understand it is a privilege to express ourselves openly and freely in Canada.

Join us as we celebrate diversity, foster unity, and empower change in Hamilton and beyond.
